Abstract
Background and Objective: The present study aimed to explain burnout based on personality type (introversion and extroversion). Methods: The research method is descriptive-correlational. The statistical population of the study included all employees of the electricity industry in Yazd in 1998. Statistical sample included 160 of these employees who were selected by convenience sampling method. In order to collect data, Maslash burnout questionnaire (1981) and Eisenhower personality questionnaire (1967) were used. Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings: The findings showed that there is a significant correlation between personality type and burnout. There is a significant and direct relationship between introverted personality type and burnout in the overall score and in men (P <0.01). There is no significant difference between men and women in the variables of burnout, personality type (introversion and extroversion) and in fact, gender has not affected these variables (P <0.05). Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that attention to employee health is necessary to improve the quality of service. Identifying the underlying and effective factors of burnout, careful planning to use prevention methods, holding guidance courses, skills training and improving working conditions are effective in improving and reducing the effects of these factors.
