Abstract
Background & Objectives: In terms of performance, NAJA is the most important organization in the field of community security and order. Therefore, the position of human resources in the NAJA organization is very sensitive and vital. Having motivation and peace of mind are two very important components in the performance of the employees of an organization, and the law enforcement, as an organization that provides order and security in society, should pay very important attention to the field of creating motivation and peace of mind in its human force, so that it can achieve its desired performance in society. Anxiety and depression have a very high prevalence among police officers. Job burnout and a decrease in productivity among police force personnel have been reported due to the demanding work and low salaries of its employees. These factors, combined with the high number of police officer fatalities during missions, can lead to significant demotivation and burnout among law enforcement personnel. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate Islamic integrated group psychotherapy on the job satisfaction of male police personnel.
Methods: The current quasi–experimental research employed a pretest–posttest design with a control group. The statistical population consisted of male personnel from the Yazd City police force in 2022. Among the people in the society, 30 qualified volunteers participated in the study through the available method, and 15 of them were randomly assigned to the intervention group, while 15 were assigned to the control group. The inclusion criteria for the subjects in the study were as follows: being a police officer with more than 10 years of experience, having high job burnout based on a score of more than 54 on the Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach & Jackson, 1981), having no history of psychiatric disorder or medication use, and not using concurrent treatments during the study. The exclusion criteria for the study subjects were those who were absent from treatment sessions more than once and did not complete the questionnaire during the study. The scores of the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (Weiss et al., 1967) were compared before and after the treatment. Individuals in the intervention group received 8 sessions of Islamic integrative psychotherapy twice a week in a group setting for four weeks. However, the control group was not provided with any therapy. Informed consent was obtained from all participants in the study. They were also assured that their information would remain confidential. In the descriptive statistics section, the mean and standard deviation of the scores related to the variables were reported. In the inferential statistics section, data analysis was performed using the analysis of covariance statistical test. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 19 software. The significance level of the tests was set at 0.05.
Results: The results showed a significant difference in the mean scores of the job satisfaction variable between the intervention group and the control group in the posttest (p<0.001). Based on the effect size results, 62% of the difference between the intervention group and the control group in the job satisfaction variable was due to the implementation of Islamic integrated group psychotherapy.
Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that Islamic integrated group psychotherapy has a significant effect on improving the job satisfaction of male police personnel. Therefore, it can be used as a treatment alongside other effective treatment methods to improve the psychological problems of police personnel.
