Background and purpose: People suffering from insecure attachment have various weaknesses and malfunctions, among which we can point out the cognitive function impairment and also the emotional inhibition of this group, which must be improved with appropriate interventions, therefore, this research aims to investigate The effectiveness of integrative meta-diagnostic treatment on emotional inhibition and cognitive function of women with insecure attachment was done.
Research method: This research was a semi-experimental type with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The research sample of this research is 30 qualified female volunteers with insecure attachment who were identified from counseling centers in Qazvin city and were equally and completely randomly replaced in two experimental groups (15 people) and control (15 people) and then the members of the experimental group It was replaced by integrated meta-diagnostic therapy.Data collection was based on attachment questionnaire(Hazan & Shaver, 1987), cognitive function questionnaire(Nejati , 1392)and emotional control questionnaire(Roger & Nesshoever,1987)and Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis of covariance with SPSS version 26 software at a significance level of 0.05. Also, the chi-square test was used to compare the status of the two control and experimental groups in terms of education level, age, and marital status. These people had medical records and received a diagnosis of insecure attachment. The reason for choosing women was their eligibility and their willingness to participate in the research, as well as almost similar researches that existed either did not control gender or were only conducted on men. Also, due to the small number of counseling centers in Qazvin city and on the other hand, the problem of insecure attachment is specific, it was not possible to use random methods in this research. During this targeted research, the researcher first took a letter from Raja University (non-governmental-non-profit) to counseling centers in Qazvin city to obtain permission to conduct research and after talking with psychologists and counselors, they identified centers for adults who had insecure attachment and if Having the entry criteria, the sample was selected to participate in the research.
Findings: The results of the research showed that integrative transdiagnostic treatment was effective and improved emotional inhibition and cognitive performance of people with insecure attachment (p<0.001).Also, the effect size for the emotional control variable was 0.455 and for the cognitive function variable was 0.498.Integrative meta-diagnostic therapy taught participants with insecure attachment how to face their unpleasant emotions and respond to their emotions in a more adaptive way. This therapy helped participants gain a better understanding of the interaction of thoughts, feelings and behavior to have inner emotional experiences.
In this therapy, people learn to be more aware of their emotional experiences, including behavioral triggers and consequences, to question negative cognitive evaluations of emotions and physical sensations, and to identify and correct emotion-induced behaviors. , achieve awareness and tolerance of physical emotions.During endogenous exposure, be aware and tolerant of physical sensations and face your emotional experiences in situational and endogenous contexts. All these skills, by correcting emotional regulation habits, lead to a reduction in the intensity of uncompromising emotional experiences and the return of emotions to a functional level and a reduction in the emotional inhibition of people with insecure attachment. In another explanation, it can be said that according to the logic of the emergence of an integrated transdiagnostic treatment approach, it is possible to improve and make significant changes in emotional inhibition by targeting common factors such as repetitive thoughts and negative emotions.
Integrated meta-diagnostic therapy includes strategies such as teaching emotional awareness, learning to observe emotions, recognizing the strategies of emotional avoidance disorders, being aware of the negative effects of avoiding emotions, and identifying behaviors caused by emotions which causes the adjustment of internal emotions and order of emotions, which is one of the basic needs of people with insecure attachment.
Conclusion: Integrated meta-diagnostic therapy is suggested as an effective method in emotional inhibition and cognitive function of people with insecure attachment. This treatment has an effect on emotional inhibition and cognitive function of people with insecure attachment. It is due to strengthening the ability to regulate emotions and on the other hand, strengthening the ability to cognitively regulate emotions. Therefore, meta-diagnostic training based on emotion regulation techniques made the research participants recover emotions, especially negative emotion And this caused this group to accept and manage the emotions within themselves. According to the above information, it is obvious that the participants in the research show a significant improvement in emotional inhibition after receiving the mentioned treatment approach.
