Background and Purpose: Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder is a very common childhood psychiatric disorder and an important issue in the mental health of the community.
Methods: The method of this study was a semi-structured pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study included all mothers of elementary school students with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder in Tehran in 2023-2024. Forty volunteers from the statistical population were entered into the study by purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. The data collection tools in the pre-test and post-test for both groups were the Dysfunctional Attitudes Questionnaire and Life Orientation Questionnaire. The experimental group received eight sessions of positive therapy. Data analysis was performed using analysis of covariance in SPSS version 26 software. The significance level of the tests was considered to be 0.05.
Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of the variables of dysfunctional attitudes (P<0.001) and life orientation (P<0.001) of the experimental and control groups in the post-test.
