Purpose: According to the statistics of the divorce, it has a significant prevalence in Iran, and since divorce has consequences that often affect all family members, Therefore, understanding the phenomenon of divorce is very important. The lived experience of couples applying for divorce can help identify the consequences of divorce. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the phenomenological consequences of divorce among couples applying for divorce in Yazd province.
Method: The current research is based on the phenomenological method and tries to investigate the lived experiences of couples applying for divorce. The participants of the research included couples applying for divorce who referred to judicial counseling centers in Yazd province, and among these couples, 12 couples were selected for interviews with the purposeful sampling method. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview program and analyzed using Collaizi qualitative data analysis techniques.
Findings: The findings from the coding of the lived experiences of couples applying for divorce showed three main themes that included social consequences, economic consequences and psychological consequences, and these three themes can be divided into four levels of consequences for the individual, consequences for the spouse, consequences for the children and Consequences for the primary family were classified.
Conclusion: The themes extracted in the present research from the lived experiences of couples applying for divorce are derived from the context of the society and the specific culture of the research context and can create a clearer view of the consequences of the divorce phenomenon, and clarifying the consequences of divorce can help discover effective solutions to prevent and intervene in the phenomenon of divorce.
