Background and Aim: Parenting style expresses emotional relationships and general relationships with children and is an important factor for children's development and learning. The parenting choices and practices that parents choose and implement affect many issues in high-intelligence children and students, as well as other children and adolescents. The oldest method of educating gifted students is grade skipping. In this case, gifted students are able to complete the academic years of the regular education system more quickly and graduate one or more years earlier. According to the report of the Exceptional Education Organization of Iran, the demand for grade skipping is 70% higher than the international standards, and it is increasing every year, but still a study that has dealt with the behavioral and emotional problems of students using this plan has been neglected. The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the behavioral and emotional issues of students admitted to the grade skipping with other students and to analyze the parenting styles of their parents.
Method: This descriptive study was a causal-comparative study. The statistical population includes students using the grade skipping in the academic year 2019-2020 in Khorasan Razavi province that 165 out of 286 grade-skipped students were selected by regular random sampling method. The criteria for entering the research were: informed consent to participate, acceptance in all stages of the academic leap of the province's exceptional education department, as well as higher education, and the criterion for leaving the research was the unwillingness to continue participating in the research. Goodman's strengths and weaknesses questionnaire Goodman (1997) and Bamrind (1973) parenting styles questionnaire were used to collect data. . data analysis was performed with one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA), Scheffe post hoc test, Pearson correlation test, simultaneous multivariate regression and structural equation modeling (SEM).The obtained data were analyzed using structural equation modeling in SPSS and AMOS. The significance level of the tests in this study was set at 0.05.

Results: The present research findings suggested that the total paths coefficient (total direct & indirect path coefficient) between authoritarian parenting style  and the Behavioral-emotional problems) β=0/550  P=0/001 )was positive and significant. paths of decisive and reassuring parenting styles are to behavioral problems ) β=-0/202 P=0/001 ) negative and significant. The standard coefficient of paths of permissive/indulgent parenting styles to emotional behavioral problems ) β=-0/053 P=0/331   )  was not significant. Also, the collected data were consistent with the proposed research model(CFI = 0/90 ،RMSEA=0/06).
Conclusion:According to the findings of the present study, authoritarian parenting style is associated with emotional and conduct disorders in students who use grade skipping. It can be said that having parents with authoritarian parenting style who have neurotic personality traits will further impair the adaptation of these children.
Given the fact that students who use the academic leap have a lower calendar age than their classmates, the need to reconsider the academic leap plan is very significant. It is suggested to use methods based on enriching the educational content in educating gifted students. It also seems necessary to carry out appropriate intervention programs for parents and students using the use grade skipping.
