زمینه و هدف: لکنت در اثر تخریب کنترل فضایی و زمانی حرکات لازم جهت تولید روان گفتار به وجود می‌آید. افرادی که لکنت دارند، در کنترل تغییرپذیری، سرعت و زمان بندی نسبی حرکات گفتاری خود در موقع صحبت کردن روان، متفاوت عمل می‌کنند. شواهد فیزیولوژیکی نشان دادند که ساز و کارهای کنترل حرکتی برای تولید گفتار و حرکت اندام‌ها زیر بنای عصبی مشترکی دارند. بنابراین هدف از پژوهش حاضر تعیین تأثیر تمرینات زمان‌بندی بر زمان‌بندی حرکتی و شدت لکنت کودکان مبتلا به لکنت بوده است.
روش‌بررسی: این تحقیق از نوع نیمه‌تجربی با طرح پیش‌آزمون و پس‌آزمون و گروه کنترل بود. شرکت‌کنندگان در این تحقیق چهارده کودک شهر اصفهان (ده پسر و چهار دختر) با محدودهٔ سنی ۴تا۶ سال بودند که به‌صورت دردسترس انتخاب شده و به‌طور تصادفی در دو گروه تجربی و کنترل تقسیم شدند. گروه تجربی به‌مدت هشت هفته تمرینات زمان‌بندی را انجام داد. از آزمون‌های شدت لکنت و آداسیتی به‌ترتیب جهت سنجش شدت لکنت و زمان‌بندی حرکتی استفاده شد. داده‌ها با استفاده از تحلیل کوواریانس تجزیه‌و‌تحلیل شدند.
یافته‌ها: یافته‌ها نشان داد که پس از هشت هفته تمرینات زمان‌بندی، شدت لکنت (۰٫۰۱۸=p) و زمان‌بندی حرکتی کودکان (۰٫۰۰۱>p) گروه تجربی درمقایسه با گروه کنترل به‌طور معناداری بهبود یافته است.
نتیجه‌گیری: به‌نظر می‌رسد ارتباط قوی میان سیستم‌های زبانی و حرکتی وجود داشته و تمرینات زمان‌بندی ممکن است روش تمرینی مفیدی برای کاهش شدت لکنت در کودکان مبتلا به لکنت باشد.
