Background and Objective: One of the most important pillars of the development of individual and social life is adaptation to environmental conditions. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of empathy education on psychological hardiness and forgiving of maladaptive adolescents in the city.
Materials and Methods: This study was a semi-experimental design with pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population consisted of all 13-15 year-old school students in the first 10th district of Tehran in the academic year 2018-2019 (about 6000 people) who, referring to their educational records, identified 141 individuals and 30 of them were as They were randomly selected and subjected to experimental and control tests in two groups of 15. For collecting data, Kiyameri et al. (1999) and Forgiveness Thompson et al. (2005) used psychological hardiness questionnaires. The experimental group participated in eight 60-minute sessions of Hamedan Education (2008), while the control group did not receive any intervention.
Results: The results of multivariate covariance analysis showed that there was a significant difference in the mean of psychological hardiness and forgiveness scores before and after the intervention, but these changes were not significant in the control group (p <0.05).
Conclusion: According to the results, empathy education has been effective and has increased psychological hardiness and forgiveness of maladaptive adolescents.
